At the beginning of March I moved into a new house here on campus. Now I have three roommates. The house is much bigger and I love living there!
A friend of Brenda´s parents came down to Brazil to visit because he grew up here. We met him for church and then went to his friends´ home for a traditional Brazilian meal, feijoada and some great conversation.
According to Wikipedia Feijoada is:
Feijoada is a stew of beans with beef and pork, which is a typical Brazilian dish originated with the slaves in Brazil to who were given, by slavery lords, the unwanted remains of the pork and cheap black beans to eat.
We laughed a lot that day. Our car got lost going there and coming home. While riding were asked if we wanted the ride "with emotion" or "without emotion". We definitely got the ride "with emotion" (i.e. crazy!).
Kindergarten and 1st grade took a field trip to the zoo. The zoo is large and is split into sections by continent. They also have a big bird area and an ant farm. It was really interesting.
Brenda had a birthday and we had a special Mexican lunch with her.
On her birthday we had an Oreo cake.
Our school had an International Festival on March 28th. The kids all participate in an assembly and money is raised to support several of the ministries our school families are involved in. After the morning assembly we eat and play! Moms from several different countries make food, there are traditional dance performances in the gym, and games for the kids. We had food from Brazil, Argentine, Chili, Colombia, China, Japan, and Korea.
