End of the Year

The end of the school year is always filled with many fun events.  I was able to tutor this fun boy after school this semester.  We had tons of fun working on reading.  Here I am over at his house for a very yummy dinner!!

We use Daily 5 to help us learn to read and write.  There are 5 choices of activities children can work on: Read to Self, Read to Someone, Listen to Reading, Work on Writing, and Word Work.  One brilliant first grader asked if we could add a sixth choice, Write to Someone.  My students had a wonderful time working together to create stories and illustrations to share with the class.

Thursday was our elementary talent show.  A few first grade girls sang "Let it Go"

Two 1st grade boys sang "The Story of My Life"
Here are a couple of clips to catch a glimpse.

Thursday afternoon was field day and of course the theme was WORLD CUP!!

The final game was tug-of-war...everyone´s favorite!

First Grade Fun and an Added Bonus

Friday we had our first grade play/assembly.  The kids were absolutely AMAZING and STUNNINGLY CUTE!!  The play was about some farmers who look at their animals and think their lives are so easy- living in the barn with no chores.  The animals think that the humans have it so nice with a warm house and good food to eat.  They decide to switch places and realize that they were better off where God had placed them and should be content with what they have.  You can watch our play by clicking on the following link:

My first visit to Walmart in Brazil

Our end of the year party was at my house.  We had food, watched a movie and the kids created some games... a few of which I had to put the kibosh on. ;)  Isabela is moving to Florida this summer.  We were able to give her a shirt with our class photo on it and we all signed our names on the back.
